1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We are a local shop and provide a service for the local community.

We know our customer’s and many of their families.

We understand that two thirds of people with Dementia live in the community and that the numbers are increasing.

It is important for people to feel safe and welcome in the community we can help this happen by being understanding and learning more about the difficulties a person with dementia might experience.

We can also tell people about support services that are available in the local area.   

 

 

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

 Families may be embarrassed by the situation and other customers may not be as understanding.

Sometimes if it is busy it may be difficult to find time to engage with someone needing more time and care

2. Actions

  • Dementia Awareness /Dementia Friends

    Increase our knowledge about dementia by signing up as a Dementia Friend and an organisation to view the handling money video clip and any other recommended clip to help increase my organisations understanding  

    Members of staff to wear their Dementia Friends Badges

    We will attend a Dementia awareness talk when one is avaliable in the area

  • Knowledge of support services

    Have knowledge about the support services available through AZ society locally and tell people about them any time it feels appropriate

    We will use the logos and tell other orgaisations about the work of the alliance
