Salvation Army Charity Shop, Andover

We are a community charity shop. 90% of the funds raised within the shop are then given back for works within Andover. We clothe the homeless and are a collection point for sleeping bags (homeless) and the food bank. The church is closely linked to us. The shop itself is set up to reach all of our customers demographic.

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We often see vulnerable people in our shop and would love to be dementia aware so we can better meets their needs. 

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Attending awareness sessions as we are a group of volunteers.
