New Day Care

We are a domicillary care agency based in Ashton-in-Makerfield, just outside of Wigan. We are aiming to provide support to individuals who live with dementia on a daily basis, not only in Wigan, but in a lot of the surrounding areas. We currently have staff coming through for Bolton, various different areas in Manchester, Cheshire East and West, Wigan and Preston. We are looking to supply staff members with our own in house dementia training and then looking to branch our own knowledge so we can provide dementia patients with the best possible care.

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We aim to ensure that individuals are able to maintain at home with as much independence for as long as possible. We aim to ensure that our clients receive the best possible care by proviidng a person centred approach to the care that we provide. This include an initial assessment to see how we can help the individual and support through out our time with the individual with reviews and updates along with checks to ensure staff members are providing the right standard of care.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

The challenges that we face with our organisation is making sure that all staff members have  correct and sufficient knowledge to be able to provide the correct care to individuals who suffer from the different forms of dementia
