1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We can help by ensuring best customer care – making sure that vunerable customers are given the time and space to complete their tasks at their own convenience.

We can encourage all members of the public to have consideration for other shoppers (users of the Centre), regardless of the source of anyones’ vunerability.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Simply ensuring that people understand about dementia is a challenge and we will be working in a very diffuse environment.

Other challenges we face include the fact that wide spread changes in mind set must be done with encouragement rather than in any enforceable fashion.  So carrot rather than stick!

Also that a campaign will have to be sustained over a long period to ingrain different habits and ways of thinking.
