  • Dementia Champion

    Two staff (Champions) have been allocated time to deliver information sessions to the workforce at Yate Leisure Centre, in order for the centre to become dementia friendly.

  • Activities in the Leisure Centre

    our staff to meet with people living with dementia and their carers to provide an open house - coffee morning, leisure activities, active voices(singing). Monday Am (holidays and Bank Holidays etc). * day and time may be changed.

  • 2019-20 Update

    The Active Centre Dementia Social Group has been growing with up to 38 members attending our sessions at Yate.

    Dementia Action Week 2019 we held cake sales and raffles in our local shopping centre.

    Met with Yate Council to discuss forming a DFC in Yate. Our proposal has 2 actions (Children and Young people) and (Businesses and Shops).

    In September we opened 2 Dementia Social Groups in Kingswood and Thornbury Active Centres. 

    Delivered information sessions to a school as part of a Dementia Day and raised funds for the society (45 children – Dementia Friends).

    Meeting with schools to discuss further information sessions.

    Will be taking part in Dementia Action Week 2020. 

    We have booked a school session next week for 60 children, our outcome, 60 Dementia Friends.
