    Our libraries are safe and welcoming with trained staff. 14 staff attended Dementia Friends training on 21.1.20

  • Libraries have Health and Wellbeing sections with the “Reading Well for dementia” books

    Libraries have Health and Wellbeing sections with the “Reading Well for dementia” books which provide information and advice, support for living well, advice for relatives and carers, and personal stories. See https://www.southglos.gov.uk/health-and-social-care/care-for-adults/health-matters-and-disability/dementia-health-and-social-care/read-about-dementia/ ‘Reading Well Books on Prescription for Dementia’ recommends books you might find helpful if you have dementia, are caring for someone with dementia or would like to find out more about the condition. The books are available for an extended loan period of six weeks; if the book you want is unavailable you can reserve it free of charge.

    • Yate Library 2.30pm to 4.30pm last Thursday of every month
    • Filton Library fourth Thursday of every month from 10.30am to 12:30pm
    • Emersons Green Library second Thursday of the month, 2pm to 4pm

    • Libraries supported Dementia Action week Monday 20th - 25th May 2019 by hosting displays by Southern Brooks Community Partnership in Yate and Staple Hill libraries. Other branches displayed Reading Well for Dementia leaflets, Alzheimer’s society information and books from Reading Well booklist as part of Dementia Action week.
