Evelyn’s Traditional Tea Rooms

Evelyn’s Traditional Tea Rooms is a new small business set up in August 2015. Our aim is to be an active community member and to be proactively contributing to the success of our community. We offer a relaxed, informal and vintage inspired environment for people to meet in and to enjoy others’ company. We want our tea rooms to be an inclusive environment, accessible to all in our community and one in which our customers feel safe, relaxed and valued. We also want to offer our facilities to support the work of local care organisations within our community.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Evelyn’s Traditional Tea Room’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers would center on outcome 6 of the NDD.

In particular our role would be to better understand how we can support the work of care agencies and organisations within our local community by offering a place for support groups to meet informally. We would also hope to train staff and encourage awareness of how we might be able to help and support people with dementia to feel safe and supported when visiting Evelyn’s.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

  • To find the most useful local network contacts to communicate with.
  • To understand how we can best support the work of care organisations within our local community of Fair Oak.
  • To timetable tea room availability for support groups to meet and calculate cost of this
  • Staff training, funding for this.
