Luton Town Football Club

We are a professional football club playing in League 2 of the Football League. We have been a part of the Luton community for 130 years and have average attendances in excess of 8,000 for our home matches. Our reason for being is to win football matches, but we are also very conscious of our unique place at the heart of our community – it isn’t just the 8,000 regular attendees at our matches, but tens of thousands of others who follow our fortunes. We believe Luton Town FC has an important role to play in all the good things that go on in and around the town.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Luton Town FC has been approached to support this dementia campaign and have decided to do so. The Club will be happy to assist in raising awareness of all relevant issues by way of placing posters in our stadium and by becoming involved in the week of action – using our social media resources to help spread the relevant messages to our tens of thousands of Twitter and Facebook followers.

The Club has also agreed to be the venue for various meetings including the Dementia Champions Networking event.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

None that we cannot overcome.
