1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Proudfoot Group already goes ‘the extra mile’ in helping those with disabilities and frailties to benefit from the shopping experience.  We believe that those with dementia and their carers are a consitutency that deserve protecting and looking after, so that they can retain a measure of independence in their shopping experience.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

It is not possible for the Group to send all its staff on dementia awareness training, but we would aim to have a ‘key person’ from each store attend a dementia friend session, and cascade the information to the rest of the staff.

2. Actions

  • Provide Practical Help for those with Dementia and their Carers.

Continue to ensure that there is additional help – and importantly time - readily available for those who shop in the stores.  Staff to be alert to those who need assistance in the aisles and at the checkout (choice of goods, help with money, assistance with packing etc).

  • Improve Customer Awareness

Proudfoot will aim to support Dementia Awareness by publicising local services and making information leaflets available for our customers.

  • Ongoing Review of the Layout of the Store

Proudfoot will continue to review the layout of the Stores, in order to make the shopping experience as easy and as helpful as possible for those with dementia and their carers.
