Thornham Walks

Thornham Walks welcomes visitors to the Thornham Estate where miles of waymarked footpaths pass through beautiful mature wood, park and farmland. A circular, half-mile loop of metalled path enables disabled access directly from the pay and display car park, where a playground and cafe are also located.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Thornham Walks aims to prvoide all visitors with the benefits that a simple walk in beautiful countryside can provide. With that in mind, we have endeavoured to create an environment that welcomes a wide variety of users, from those with both phsyical disabilities, to parents with babies and children, to dog walkers, and those suffering mental health or cognitive issues.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

The biggest challenge we face is generating sufficient income to maintain our extensive Walks network.
