1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

I do not feel that the challenges are overly onerous. There are only a couple of small obstacles one being internal communication as our teams work 24/7 and we need to have a careful plan in place so as the key messages are delivered correctly and the other is of diversity as a number of staff do not naturally use English as their first language.

2. Actions

  • We will work to raise awareness of dementia within Ealing Broadway

We will work to raise awareness of dementia through the monthly newsletter which goes out to the 82 stores located within the shopping centre.

  • We will create a designated ‘Quiet Space’ within Ealing Broadway.

We will accommodate Twiddlemitts and information stands at the shopping centre during Dementia Awareness Week

  • Our core customer facing staff will become dementia friends and cascade this message to other employees.

We will offer Dementia Friends sessions to all EBSC employees. We will also accommodate these sessions for those who wish to attend throughout the year and publicise this through our newsletter.
