1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
Improving customer service through increasing staff awareness and understanding of dementia.
Offer regular dementia friendly awareness sessions for staff and local partners.
Establish a dementia friendly resources page on the intra and internet for residents and staff.
Inform and advise local residents of the support available for people living with dementia through the Courier, East Dorset News and e-networks.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
Lack of knowledge/understanding amongst our staff/community.
This is not the primary purpose of our business/organisation/group.
Offer Dementia awareness raising opportunities for all staff
Provide bespoke awareness sessions and dementia friendly web page/leaflets for staff and partners

Improve access and signage in our facilities/environment
Continued maintenance of a call-in service for customers
Identify dementia friendly ways of working by offering alternatives to people living with dementia
Introduction of meet and greet officers in the reception area to support all customers

Offer of assistance for a range of services provided by our partners, such as missed bins, street light reporting etc.
