1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We are raising dementia awareness within our organisation through ensuring all our employees attend a Dementia Friends session. This will enable us to use our increased awareness to deliver an improved service for those affected by dementia.

We have a willingness to respond to the individual’s needs and help/support them when we can and it is reasonable for us to do so.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

To train all staff to recognise customers with Dementia.

Review our policies and practices to accommodate those with Dementia – This could include signatures instead of pin on card payments, and sending an extra reminder out to those with Dementia

  • Dementia awareness in house

    Ensure all our employees attend a Dementia Friends session to enable them to gain a strong understanding of dementia and how they can assist any customers affected by the disease.

    When selecting multiple frames for a customer living with dementia, we will make sure that both frames vary in colour so that the wearer can distinguish between the two sets.
