1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Awareness sessions for staff  across the hub of five branches in the city.

Review of facilities

Tea and teach sessions to help with IT use for elderly customers and those living with dementia

2. Actions

  • Plymouth staff to attend dementia friends awareness sessions

    An initial dementia friends awareness session to be delivered by Claire Puckey (Dementia Friendly City Co-Ordinator, Plymouth City Council) in the branch, to 8 staff from Barclays and some staff from the  branch of Boots in Drake Circus Shopping Centre.

  • Key member of the Barclays team to undertake Dementia Champion training

    Clare Geraghty (Premier Relationship Manager) will undertake dementia champion training. This will ensure that the awareness sessions are rolled out to the current staff team of 54 across the hub and that any new staff also attend in the future.

  • Pop-up shops to be run everyday in the main city centre branch during dementia awareness week

    During 2015 Dementia Awareness week, a variety of pop-up shops from companies with dementia friendly or associated services, to be run in the city centre branch each day,to raise awareness of dementia with Barclays staff and customers. The pop-ups to include:

    Monday: Wolferstans Solicitors

    Tuesday: Thompson & Jackson Solicitors

    Wednesday: Public Protection Team, Plymouth City Council and "Tea and Teach " digital coaching session  for the public (this is run monthly)

    Thursday: Age UK

    Friday: The Wills Centre

  • To raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society

    Barclays to have the Alzheimer's Society in the main city centre branch (26th of June) to support a fund raising and awareness event. The event is  to involve the Barclays Premuiership Trophy being in the branch for people to come and have their photo taken with it and hopefully make a donation to the Alzheimer's Society. Also, for an auction of the following: Framed England 2014 football shirt, signed by the team, Signed West Brom shirt and football, Exeter Chiefs tickets and Years membership to Everyone Active.
