1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
Faithworks Wessex works in partnership with Alzheimers Society and Prama. We deliver Dementia Awareness training to churches, and enable them to understand and support members of their congregation with Dementia, whether they have Dementia or are their carers.
We strive to break down the barriers around Dementia to stop people with dementia feeling isolated, and feel comforted by their faith organisation and supported. To help the churches in Dorset understand the needs of those with memory loss. Equipping them to make their activites accessible, hopeful and welcoming to such people.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
Sometimes the challenges of delivering these outcomes to churches are that the carers of those with Dementia, may not ask for help and support and they feel isolated due to this.
To ensure that Faithworks Wessex is a Dementia Friendly Organisation.
We will ensure that over the next twelve months that our new volunteers will recieve Dementia friends training, and have a greater understanding of Dementia and how to support those with Dementia.
To make Faithworks Wessex offices a Dementia Friendly environment.
We will work towards making our offices being Dementia friendly with the introduction of dementia friendly clear signage on the doors, and toilet. To ensure all of our staff are trained and friendly to anyone who may visit us with memory loss.
For our staff to have a detailed knowledge of Dementia.
To make sure that all our staff have access to information packs on Dementia. To discuss Dementia and supporting anyone with memory loss at monthly team meetings, to ensure we are inculsive of everyone.
