1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
We’re really keen that every Asda store plays an active role in the life of their local community. From raising money for local charities to volunteering, our colleagues take their responsibilities towards their local communities very seriously.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
Raising staff awareness of dementia
Creating the right environment that is suitable for people with dementia
Knowing the community we are targeting and tailoring the marketing appropriately
Sharing best practice, key learning areas and challenges encountered
Ensure all existing and new employees attend a Dementia Friends session in order to heighten their knowledge and awareness surrounding the disease
Dementia Friend Champion
We will make sure that our store has at least one Dementia Friends Champion to deliver session to employees and customers, thus further raising awareness within our community.
We will make sure we allocate a room within our store that can be used a 'Quiet Room' for customers living with Dementia and their carers to use if needed.
Display Coin Charts on Customer Service Areas
Store will display coin recognition charts and notices in customer service areas to help customers with dementia handle their change/money with more confidence.
