1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

The Key Safe Company provide secure, quality key safes to Local Authority’s, councils, private companies and general public. Key safes are an ideal way to securely store a spare property key and conveniently allows immediate access to emergency services and care workers. Working in partnership with leading industry experts, such as the Association of Chief Police Officers, the Loss Prevention Certification Board, the Telecare Services Association and 86% of Local Authorities, we developed the UK’s only Police approved key safe, the C500 KeySafe. The C500 KeySafe allows those living with dementia to stay independent in their own homes for longer by ensuring scheduled care can be delivered and immediate access can be gained in the event of an emergency

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

With limited first-hand experience of dementia among staff within the business, there is a real lack of understanding and knowledge. Building general awareness within the business on the causes and effects of dementia would allow us to quickly identify the small things we could do to help someone with the condition and improve their quality of life.

    We will also encourage all our employees to become dementia friends and support employees who care for people with dementia. This will be led by our appointed dementia friends champion.
