1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Bracknell Local Police Area, aims to improve communications with the public in order to build trust and confidence with our communities. To protect vulnerable members of our community. To work with our partners to provide support for those adults that might be at risk from dementia. Neighbourhood Team Officers to identify vulnerable adults and visit regularly in their homes Support and attend Bracknell Forest DAA steering group Support the Safe Place Scheme Provide training to all staff for greater awareness of those living with dementia.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Resourcing constraints. Limit time and budgets

  • Awareness raising.

    All staff and Police Officers will be given awareness training regarding dementia. This will be delivered on allocated training days.

    Neighbourhood Policing Teams will have patrol plans to identify vulnerable persons in the community who may have dementia and bring their needs to the attention of our agencies partners.

    Bracknell Police Station have become and will support the Bracknell Forest 'Safe Place' Scheme and membership of the local DAA.
