1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

By improving the knowledge and awareness of our staff in order to provide an inclusive and positive experience for people with dementia and their carers.

Ensuring that people affected by dementia remain part of their community and have the opportunity to engage in social activities such as dining out.

We will support people affected by dementia where we can to ensure they feel valued when they visit our restaurant.

Where possible we will act upon any feedback provided to us from people with dementia.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

The current lack of knowledge amongst our staff and community.

2. Actions

  • Awareness raising for all staff

We will engage in Dementia Friends Awareness sessions in order to improve our knowledge of dementia.

Through partnership working with Alzheimer’s Society North and North East Lincolnshire and the Alliance, we will build on this knowledge.

  • Dementia friendly environments

We will be looking into how to make our restaurant environment more dementia friendly in order to reduce any barriers for people with dementia and their carers.

We will base our modifications on research and with support from Alzheimer’s Society North and North East Lincolnshire and the Alliance.  Where possible we will engage with people with dementia in order to get their feedback on our restaurant environment.

Where possible we will support Alzheimer’s Society services and raise awareness in our communities of our partnership working.

We will be happy to donate to/sponsor events such as Dementia Awareness Week events and the Local Memory Walk in addition to Action Alliance events.
