1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

I see our role as providing support for people who have the condition as well as those who are supporting a relative or friend. We will provide the flexibility and reasonable adjustments to allow employees to continue in employment whilst they are having treatment and to support during the later stages of the illness. We are a channel for information through briefings and seminars so that employees are well informed about the characterstics of the illness as well as the support available locally.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

1. Ensuring colleagues understand and support employees who have the illness. 2. Creating an open and honest environment, free from discrimiantion. 3. Fitting activity into our busy schedules. 4
