1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We have a lot of customers with dementia

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

It would be useful to have a member of staff who has additional training to accompany customers with dementia for eye tests. They are conducted in a small dark room – only normally with an optometrist. Another confident, calming influence would help.

2. Actions

  • Dementia Awareness raising for staff

    Ensure all Staff attend a dementia awareness raising session

  • Review premises to be aware of potential issues

    Look at our premises with a view to making any changes which are possible to provide a dementia friendly environment and to be aware of potential problems where changes are not possible.

  • Awareness of local support groups and services

    Some of our customers who are living with dementia may not be aware of local services. We can help via signposting.

  • Include dementia awareness in our induction pack for new employees
