Caldwells

We are an Estate Agents in Lymington having worked in the town for over 30 years and have run Caldwells for 18 years. Lymington and the surrounding area being the age profile that it is we have become very aware of the needs of the elderly and on many occasions have been instrumental in helping families who live far away organising the sale of the property and move to sheltered accommodation or nursing homes.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Over the years we have become more aware of trying to identify dementia, rather than just assuming that people are bit confused and have contacted distant family members to alert them of our concerns

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

To ensure that all the staff are aware of the signs of Dementia and give their time and patience to  people with Dementia, but are also aware of how their perception of our office and how they are welcomed makes a significant difference.

Whilst we have property details on display we have a wall mounted TV monitor providing pictures not only of houses that we currently sell, but local landmarks including the quay, Beaulieu river, forest ponies, the church and other interesting pictures.
