1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Having a wide range of customer age groups we are very aware that some may suffer from dementia and it is good business to recognize this. By recognizing the impact of dementia on our society Blagdons strive to make the community more comfortable enjoying recreational sports and activities in a safe and understanding environment.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Being a small family run business, resources and time are always limited and must managed carefully. While always striving to deliver meaningful, tangible outcomes, Blagdons is careful not to promote self-outcomes that cannot be met.

2. Actions

  • Management to become more dementia aware and have skills to adopt appropriate polices and training for staff.

    To actively engage with local dementia organisations and have better understanding of dementia. To identify training that will help management & staff feel comfortable and informed of customers with dementia.

  • To promote awareness to other colleagues and businesses

    Supported by local strategic dementia organisations Blagdons aim to promote better understanding and awareness of Dementia and encourage others to take responsibilities for their employees and customers experiencing dementia.

  • Raise awareness and needs of families of dementia patients.

    Make every effort to improve the conditions and experiences for families dealing with people with dementia by offering own experiences and encouraging medical professionals to recognise impact of condition. To also educate medical professionals of the requirements and experiences of dementia sufferers & their families.
