1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

By providing care and support to our customers living with dementia, in order for them to remain part of our local community.  

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?


Ensuring that as many Partners as possible in our store attend a Dementia Friends session in order to provide the support during our opening hours.

2. Actions

  • Dementia awareness raising for staff

    Ensure staff, especially all customer facing staff, attend a dementia awareness raising session.

  • Appoint a Dementia Champion for the branch

    Nominate an individual to be the Dementia Champion for the branch 

  • Offer venue free of charge for one-off sessions

    Make our training room available (by prior arrangement) to support Dementia Friends and support groups 

  • Fundraising

    Opportunity to be one of the chosen charities in our Community Matters Scheme (Green Tokens) 

  • Recruit volunteers

    Help recruit Partners to attend Champion training days and local fundraising events.

  • Embed the concept of being 'Dementia Friendly' within the business

    Raise dementia awareness in all branches throughout the region.
