1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
By raising awareness with colleagues of how to assist people with dementia who may come in and making the store more dementia friendly for local people. This will be done by an outside body visiting the store to talk to colleagues about dementia and its effects and by them providing feedback on conditions in the store that may cause problems for people with dementia.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
Colleagues in customer facing roles will be offered the chance to attend training sessions run by the local Dementia Action Alliance and to ask questions regarding care of Dementia sufferers in the store.
Dementia Awareness raising for staff
Ensure staff, especially all customer facing staff, attend a dementia awareness raising session.
2014 - Second Quarter Update
To create Dementia Champions within the store.
Some customer service staff are interested in attending further training to provide support and training for staff in future.
