1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
As a pharmacy led retailer with highly qualified staff, we understand the effects dementia has not only on the sufferer but also those caring for them. We provide support and are able to install simple systems which aid in the delivery of medicines.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
It’s difficult with the challenges of time and staffing levels to capture those patients in need. Those patients who we do not provide medicines are difficult to support, because of barriers in communication at the till points, i.e no privacy and lack of skills in tackling the issue with appropriate techniques at the retail tills.
