Alzheimer's Society Brent Services

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. We provide information and support to people with any form of dementia and their carers through our publications, National Dementia Helpline, website and more than 2000 local services. We campaign for better quality of life for people with dementia and greater understanding of dementia. We also fund an innovative programme of medical and social research into the cause, cure and prevention of dementia and the care people receive.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We campaign for better quality of life for people with dementia and greater understanding of dementia. We also fund an innovative programme of medical and social research into the cause, cure and prevention of dementia and the care people receive.

Locally we provide the following services:

  • Information Service
  • Dementia Café
  • Day Support Service Monday to Friday for younger people with Dementia; Saturday all ages.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

There may be some challenges around capacity for local staff to attend regular meetings. However, we will endeavour to support the local alliance where we can such as providing information and are committed to working collaboratively with partners in the local community to see better outcomes for people with dementia and their carer’s in the community.

    We are committed to raising awareness and a better understanding of dementia and providing up to date information, through leaflets, events, talks  and inviting people to become Dementia Friends and Dementia Friends Champions.
