1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
Police staff daily engage members of the public. South Yorkshire Police Rotherham District aim to raise dementia awareness in all staff
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
Beginning from a baseline of zero, our plan is to (by August 2015) ensure 250 staff receive Dementia friends training and to have 5 Dementia champions in place.

Raise staff awareness
By August 2015 the Rotherham District of South Yorkshire Police hope to train 250 members of staff as dementia friends

Establish a number of Dementia champions to deliver "in house" Dementia friends sessions
Ensure a minimum of 5 members of staff undergo training as "dementia champions" to deliver "in house" training for SYP staff and groups within our communities.

Police Community support officers to make regular visits to every "memory cafe" in the areas they cover
