1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Our organisation ensures that all of our employees receive training around dementia and the impact this illness has upon the individual, family members, friends and the wider community. As an organisation we are committed to raising awareness of this illness by investing in the training of our staff.

We are passionate in ensuring that the standards of support we provide are of a high quality, and that we actively advocate on behalf of the individuals that we help to support.

We work alongside other organisations such as the NHS, Age Uk and the Alzheimer’s society to promote positive outcomes for people with dementia, their families and friends.

We are aware of Hulls commitment to become a dementia friendly society and our organisation is committed to supporting Hull to achieve this goal

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

We find that staff can experience difficulties in supporting family members in coming to terms with and understanding loved ones diagnosis of dementia. Our organisation works alongside social services and the admiral nursing teams to sign post families towards finding extra support
