Broadmeadow has achieved a Gold Accreditation in the enviroment for Dementia, awarded by the Sterling University. Broadmeadow is a two storey residential home providing social care for older people. Situated on the outskirts of Folkestone Town centre and within a few miles of Hythe, Ashford and Dover. We have 43 single bedrooms and 5 Flatlets that offer comfortable accommodation, with a homely atmosphere. On the 1st floor we have a 15 place day service. Twenty of the bedrooms are for Intermediate care, fifteen are for elderly frail respite, the five flatlets are for those requiring respite and suffer with a physical disability and eight beds are for crisis respite for older people suffer with Dementia or related illness. .

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

At Broadmeadow we engage with the wider community to improve their support for people with Dementia, including GP's and health care professionals,enablement service, Home Treatment Team,Carers support, Local Schools, colleges and universities, CARM, Intermediate Care, Bright Shadow, and any orginisation required to meet the needs of the Service Users. We have worked with commissioners of care for people with dementia to ensure they comission quality care services appropriately. The Channel suite at at Broadmeadow has been designed in line with Sterling uiversity and has achieved a Gold Accrediation for the enviroment for those with Dementia. We contribute to supporting the wider community by sharing knowledge and the skills of our staff

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Getting all relevant services to deliver within a set timeframe, due to the service users only staying for a short period of time. Maintaining excellant levels of communication with all relevant parties. To continue to maintain staff motivation to further improves services.
