1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
We are committed to helping people become and stay active and healthy which helps all kinds of people in a variety of different ways, we aim to be inclusive to all. We help bring together those who are young and old, friends and family allowing all to participate in activities together or to work out individually on their own.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
Our main challenge will be working with the current building design, layouts, signage and equipment that we have but moving forward when we are in a position to renew or replace items we will be mindful of the barriers that we currently have and aim to be dementia friendly.
Dementia Increase awareness for staff
Ensure all customer facing staff, attend a dementia awareness raising session
We will identify and train one Dementia Champion who will act as point of contact and deliver ongoing awareness to staff

We will take into account the needs of people with dementia when renewing signage, seating, flooring etc.
Promote Meadowside as a Dementia Friendly Venue
We will promote our venue as being dementia friendly and encourage people with dementia and their carers to use our facilities . We will use our website and other means of communication to achieve this and will take into account each persons particular needs wherever possible
Offer Membership discounts
We will offer membership discounts to those who are referred to us via a GP referral or are on income support, job seekers allowance, registered disabled, registered unemployed or over 60years of age
We will investigate the possibility of offering some kind of class to assist with being active, steady and strong
