Malmesbury Lawn Havant

As a part of Hampshire County Council, Malmesbury Lawn is seen as a leader in person centred Dementia Care within a residential setting. For the past 10 years we have worked tirelessly to improve not only the quality of care that we provide to our residents and support to their families but the ambience and fabric of the home. The home is now more dementia friendly and attuned to the daily needs of the residents which in turn assists the staff and helps families when they visit.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Malmesbury Lawn is a specialist dementia residential care service, offering person centred dementia care to it’s residents. We respect and value each person’s individuality and also focus on the needs of the families and look to support them wherever possible.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Maintaining a status quo of quality care as resident care needs change constantly and extending the support to families during this time.

We have obtained bus passes for our residents and they enjoy the experience of going around their local community. We have also made good relations with local schools. We will soon be working with the countryside rangers to plan and develop dementia friendly parks.
