1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists a number of outcomes that we are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
We are seen as being at the heart of the community not just for people’s health but also for any other concerns and queries. This therefore places us in an ideal position to not only highlight potential people that may need assistance but also gives people a safe environment in which to discuss such a sensitive subject. We can also be a focal point for people to come and talk about dementia as we have six consultation rooms ready to use straight away.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
Time and staff hours is also an issue as we are becoming increasingly busy we need to prioritise our time efficiently. There is also a great stigma attached to dementia and this could be a challenge to many staff.
