1. Action Plan

How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We will train all our staff in dementia awareness. Take an active part in the setting up of Fareham Dementia Friendly High Street.

Encourage staff to be Dementia ambassadors with the goal of improving the quality of life of people with dementia and their carers by creating
a supportive environment in store and within our community so they can retain a sense of belonging to our high street and continue to use it.

What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Challenges are mainly around time for training with regard the dementia friendly high street scheme however we have kept aims achievable. We will loo to  make the store more physically dementia friendly if budgets allow

2. Actions

  • Improve the Skills of the Dementia Care Workforce

    We will improve the skills of the dementia care workforce by developing and delivering high quality education programmes to staff across a range of dementia care settings and through the use of our approved trainer scheme.

  • Create a culture which enables my team to take time with each and every customer

    Team encouraged to take time with each customer and provide real customer service for all people. Team to open other tills to stop the customers waiting from becoming impatient with customers with dementia.
