Frinton Free Church

Our values: • Cultivating disciples • Breaking new ground • Renewing wellbeing • Giving generously • Being church wherever we are. At Frinton Free Church we are a group of Christians seeking to live out our faith by sharing the love of God with our community and we already do this in a number of ways, including through our Oasis café, which is currently open four mornings a week.

Tendring Dementia Action Alliance

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Our desire to become a dementia-friendly church is directly in line with our commitment to renewing wellbeing - physical, emotional as well as spiritual.  We hope to bring blessing to our local community by opening a monthly dementia café and holding a ‘Magical memories’ singing group.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

2. Actions

  • Dementia Friends

To have the majority of our leadership team and many of our congregation become Dementia Friends. We arranged a session for October 2021 and had 70 attendees including the majpority of the leadership team.

  • Dementia Groups

We are opening a monthly Dementia Cafe in October 2021 and holding a 'Magical memories' singing group in November. The Cafe will be staffed by Dementia Support workers who can provide information and advice to members.
  • Environment

We are arranging a walk-through of our buidling with Age Concern to identify areas that could be made more 'dementia friendly' and we will look at ways to address any areas that are identified.

  • Signposting

We will hold information that will enable us to signpost people to local support services where appropriate.
