Paternoster House Care Home - Barchester

Paternoster House is a specialist nursing home supporting people in need of nursing and dementia care in a warm and friendly environment. We also share our site with Jasmine Court Independent Hospital, which provides support for people with mental health needs. Our accommodation is purpose-built, with extensive grounds framed by woods and open fields in a quiet area of Waltham Abbey. The home boasts a number of courtyard gardens and sheltered areas. Our grounds are regularly visited by the local wildlife, ranging from birds and squirrels to deer.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We provide specialist dementia care - day care, respite and permanent. We will ensure that all of our staff are 'Dementia Friends' and have a full understanding of how to support those living with dementia both in our home and the community.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Ensuring that all members of staff across the home are reached with this training, including those working different shift patterns.
