David Phillip Estate Agents

we are an Estate Agency Business working in North Leeds, and have become part of a small group of local businesses and residents keen to create a community for people living with dementia - having only been established for a year we have ensured that when we make any introductions/changes to the business we always consider working towards being dementia friendly from our building, to our staff and our marketing

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

ensuring our office has an environment that is welcoming for people living with dementia from a practical level ie - signposting, layout, furniture our marketing is designed so that there are versions created that are easy for people living with dementia to understand - no jargon, packs available in bigger font, information in manageable chunks, clear straightforward communications. our products and services are straightforward ie dedicated point of contact with no confusing call centres, hi-lights on our CRM system if someone is vulnerable, offering extra services - key cutting, de-cluttering services that will make everything easier for someone living with dementia all new employees to be trained on working with clients or colleagues who may be living with dementia - we have re-visited our values to support we are also part of the newly formed Bramhope Dementia friendly group we are a small team

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

our organisation only has 3 employees as we rely heavily on technology - it will a challenge to ensure that all our technology (that may be supplied by external suppliers) is installed in a way that is dementia friendly, and supports our values.
