1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

One of my reasons for wanting to join and support the scheme is my grandmother suffered with Dementia at an elderly age. And currently my Father-In-Law who is early 50's is suffering with Dementia. I have seen the affects it can not only have on the person but also the family and friends. Simple tasks everyone takes for granted. My business aims to fully support the DAA and work closely with them to offer plumbing services to those suffering with Dementia and the family's that support them. This will be done by creating a document to fully explain the services, and when attending addresses fully explaining what is happening, what is required, and even little things like making the customer a cup of tea. I will promote the work of the DAA and offer support where I can.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Although I have lived with close family suffering the affects of Dementia, and also seen it happen to family friends. I have undertaken numerous training courses, covering Dementia. However a further training input and full understanding of what support is in place and what as a buisness I can offer would be benefical. Other challenges would be if I arrived at a customers house who was living alone with Dementia making sure they had support, and were aware of what was taking place. If not look at whatever support and safeguarding I could offer.
