1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

1) We aim to be kind, compassionate and understanding of the struggles and extra care that people with dementia and their carers face.

2) We can signpost people to organisations that can provide information, care and guidance. And/or assist in early diagnosis.

3) We can ensure that any notices or important information is easy to read.

4) All staff members are registered Dementia Friends and we can raise awareness of the organisation.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

1) We are a busy pharmacy so finding time to spend extra time with patients during busy periods can be difficult.

2) We have some physical barriers for example the counter may feel like a barrier to some customers, sometimes the pharmacy can be noisy.

2. Actions

  • Make notices more visible

We will move any important notices so they are all at eye level and make sure there is a clear contrast between the writing and the background of the poster and also the poster and the space that the poster is on.
