Kendal Dementia Action Alliance

To promote and protect good health for the public benefit of those affected by dementia in Kendal and the surrounding areas through the provision of information and advice to make people more attentive to the needs and interests of those affected by dementia.

Membership is open to any organisation, or any individual, that are interested in furthering the purposes of the Alliance and that have completed an action plan setting out what they will do to make a difference to people living with dementia.  Current member organisations are listed on this page.

Meeting of members are held each quarter.  They provide a forum where the views of people affected by dementia are heard, and give opportunity for review of current activity and consideration of possible further initiatives.

The principal activities of the Alliance are:

  • The publication of an online directory of sources of information for, and of activities that may be of particular interest to, people affected by dementia in Kendal and district https://www.kendaldirectory.there4.co.uk
  • The management of the South Lakes Dementia Hub (a monthly ‘one-stop shop’ bringing together people affected by dementia and providers of services and sources of information)
  • Encouraging customer-facing businesses and other organisations to become dementia-friendly: the Alliance provides official recognition for those that meet its criteria
  • Encouraging the provision locally of Dementia Friends information sessions (www.dementiafriends.org.uk )
