The Wadebridge Dementia Action Alliance  has spent its first year busily building  on a firm foundation of things that are already working well in supporting people affected by dementia.

Working closely with the Wadebridge Memory Cafe Association and the Rotary Club of Wadebridge the Alliance continues to seek  members to join the work of creating as dementia friendly a community as possible.

Several members of the Alliance’s steering committee have become Dementia Friend Champions enabling the Alliance to offer Dementia Friend sessions to local organisations, businesses and individuals.   This has been well accepted with an ever increasing number of Dementia Friends being created.

An early success of the Alliance has been a partnership venture between the "Wadebridge Memory Cafe" and "Churches Together in Wadebridge" to provide a Memory Friendly Service once a month; more details at www.wmca.btck.co.uk  The service has now been running for over a year with increasing attendances.

The Wadebirdge Dementia Action Alliance was launched by the ceremonial cutting of the Launch Cake by the Mayor of Wadebridge at a very well attended public meeting on Wednesday 25th September.  The inspirational speakers included Norms McNamara from Torbay DAA, Jane Moore from close neighbour Camelford DAA, Tony Parker from just over the boarder  Tavistock DAA and from further up the M5 Tony Hall from Bristol DAA.  Inspired by such enthusiasm the  meeting endorsed the WDAA's priorities.
