Shepperton Dementia Action Alliance

Background

Shepperton is a suburban town in the borough of Spelthorne, in the county of Surrey. The number of people estimated to have dementia in Surrey is over 16,000 more locally in Spelthorne it is around 1,400.  

The Shepperton Local DAA has been created to raise awareness of the needs of all people affected by dementia and memory loss, including family members, friends and carers.  These needs include remaining physically and mentally active and maintaining vital connections with the community.

 

Aims

This Shepperton DAA has suggested the following priority areas

  • Help businesses and other local organisations to become ‘dementia-friendly’
  • Raising dementia awareness amongst the whole community
  • Raise awareness of the extensive services already offered in our community
  • Encouragement of groups working with those living with dementia through regular contact, information and networking

 

Meetings

We are actively seeking new Steering Group members as well as Alliance Members and welcome any local interest. Meetings are held 6 times a year or as deemed necessary
