Guildford Town Dementia Action Alliance
Guildford town forms the larger part of the administrative area in the borough of Guildford. The Borough of Guildford is a local government district and the location of the council.
With the demographics of an ageing population, there is a very real and potential risk of people being socially isolated within the local community. The Guildford Town Local Dementia Action Alliance (LDAA) aims to support the diverse people affected by dementia and raise the profile of dementia issues within the town.
The number of people estimated to have dementia in Surrey is over 16,000.
Guildford Town LDAA assists in moving local organisations towards and creating a fully integrated and inclusive Dementia Friendly Community, where people living with, and affected by dementia are enabled to live well, and feel a valued part of their local community.
Guildford Town LDAA steering group has identified the following priority areas:
- Improve accessibility in shops and other town centre businesses for people affected by dementia
- Promote dementia awareness amongst visiting public, workers and residents of Guildford town
- Provide signposting to, and promotion of local initiatives for people with dementia and carers
Steering Group Meetings
Meetings are held every 6 weeks in the centre of Guildford and we are actively looking for new members to join, especially those with an interest or specialism in dementia.
