Camberley Local Dementia Action Alliance

Background

Camberley is based in the borough/District of the County of Surrey in South East England. The number of people estimated to have dementia in Surrey is over 16,000.

The growing number of people with dementia within the UK has prompted the Prime Minister to challenge the country to be more dementia friendly. We want to join this national campaign and make a difference within Camberley.

The Camberley Local DAA has been created to bring together organisations that are interested in making changes in the local community, to help reduce the stigmas associated with dementia and to help those with dementia to live well.

Aims

This Camberley DAA has identified the following priority areas

  • Bring greater awareness and acceptance from the general public and local businesses, by hosting Dementia Friends sessions and supporting local businesses to become more dementia friendly
  • Work to establish a list of local dementia services that can be signposted to

Establish a network of dementia friendly businesses and organisations in Camberley
