We have worked with over 80 churches, completing dementia audits and trained 891 people to be dementia friends. At least 4 churches are now running regular dementia friendly services.
In 2012 three local Christian organisations and the Alzheimer’s Society created a partnership to enable churches in Dorset to help and support those living with dementia and their carers. These charities were Faithwork's Wessex, Livability and Pramacare. In 2018 this project was handed over to the Prama Foundation under the leadership of Andy Gilbert who set up a dementia friendly church project www.dementiafriendlychurch.org.uk . We offer awareness training, 1 to 1 sessions with church leaders, buildings audits and the development of action plans.
If you are interested in joining the LDAA please ask to complete an action plan with the DDAA worker or go to the Dementia Friendly Church website and contact us through one of the forms.
