Witney Dementia Action Alliance

Background

The Witney Dementia Action Alliance was created in 2016 by representatives from Richmond Villages Witney, Alzheimer's Society, Age UK Oxon, Volunteer Link Up and local volunteers.

Aims

We aim to make Witney a more Dementia Friendly Community by promoting Dementia Awareness amongst local retailers, churches, transport companies, banks, care providers, community groups etc. In order to do this meaningfully we will work with local people who are living with dementia to tackle the issues that are most important to them.

Achievements

To date we have made over 1000 Dementia Friends. We host regular Dementia Cafes and Carers' groups, relaxed Tea Dances, Church Services and Music for Well being Groups.

Every year during Dementia Action Week we plan a full programme of events and encourage local retailers to "Turn Witney Blue" for the week to promote awareness and encourage action.
