Tiverton Dementia Action Alliance

Achievements

Registered as a Dementia Friendly Community

Tiverton town council, wishing to help make the town a dementia friendly community, have recruited and employed a co-ordinator to oversee the setting up of the Tiverton Local Action Alliance.

Aims of the group

To employ a co-ordinator to consult with people with dementia in Tiverton and their carers/family, in order to better understand their needs. To work with local voluntary and statutory organisations and the wider community of Tiverton, including businesses, to attempt to achieve successful outcomes following consultation. To promote better understanding and awareness of dementia among the local community and reduce the stigma that can be associated with dementia. To create networking opportunities for local organisations working with people with dementia and their families.

Achievements

To date, the recruitment of a co-ordinator to facilitate the setting up of the DAA and liaison and consultation with local groups, statutory bodies, individuals etc

Meetings and events

An initial meeting will take place in Mid June, with the steering group meeting officially for the first time in July 2016.
