Amber Valley Dementia Action Alliance

Dementia Friendly Community since October 2016.

Dementia Awareness Week 2017

Dementia Awareness Week 2017 saw many events and Dementia Friends sessions taking place.  Many thanks to all those involved especially to the volunteer Dementia Friends Champions.  The week saw the launch of Derbyshire's first Dementia Friendly High Street in Alfreton which will see much more activity to enable shops and businesses to become dementia friendly over the forthcoming months.

Working Towards a Dementia Friendly Amber Valley

The Amber Valley Dementia Action Alliance is made up of a group of organisations and individuals who have come together with the aim of making the Amber Valley a better place to live for people with dementia and their carers.

Anyone with an interest and commitment to improving the quality of life for people with dementia and their carers can join the Amber Valley Dementia Action Alliance. This could be in a traditional healthcare setting, public health, local business or a voluntary organisation which play a part in the prevention, care and support of people who have Dementia. It is also open to people with Dementia, their carers, family and friends.

The Dementia Action Alliance seeks to grow and nurture a supportive and inspirational network. Members of the Alliance will get the chance to connect with a wide range of professionals, share and draw on expertise and help to support others. Members have to align to the National Dementia Declaration and complete an action plan. This is really simple to do and not meant to deter anyone from joining.

Come along to find out more about our work and how you can get involved!
