Central Lakes Dementia Action Alliance

The Central Lakes Dementia Action Alliance has been recently established to bring together lots of initiatives happening across the area. We will focus on increasing membership and providing opportunities for local people with dementia to tell us what makes a dementia friendly community.

The alliance is bringing together organisations from all sectors -  public, private and charity - not just from health and social care  but leisure, retail, transport  and community facilities too.

Aims

The ultimate aim is to encourage local communities in to become dementia friendly - increasing awareness of dementia and how the community can work together to reduce stigma allowing people with dementia to contribute as fully as possible to community life.

Challenges:

  • Encouraging a wide range of organisations to become part of the DAA movement
  • Ensuring that all changes made reflect the needs of our local communities
