Pan Essex Dementia Action Alliance

The Pan Essex DAA was established in May 2015 with a view to creating Dementia Friendly Communities, together key stakeholders across the County to transform the lives of people living with dementia. Members of the group include organisations across the commercial, public, private, third, health and social care sector all of whom are committed are working towards county wide outcomes. Despite being a pan Essex model the intention for the group is support district councils, local towns and communities to develop smaller DAA that will involve membership from stakeholders important to a particular community.

The Pan Essex DAA was established in May 2015, at a countywide meeting.  In June 2018 the structure of the PAN Essex DAA was reviewed by members to encourage more active participation and partnership working.

Following County endorsement a programme of presentations to the Health & Wellbeing boards across the county is being planned.

A number of districts have already indicated that they wish to be early adopters of the local DAA/DFC model.

Essex Dementia Day, a number of events ran across the County. Events  took place across Essex in libraries, care homes, shopping centres, hospitals and high streets to raise awareness of dementia, its impact and what can be done to support those with dementia, and those who care for them.

The event promotes the commitment to build and develop a dementia friendly network across the county, which is where people across Essex get together to work to reduce the stigma surrounding the condition and to support people with dementia to live, work and play in their local community much more easily.

If you want to be more involved and become part of a local dementia friendly community in Essex please contact Lorraine Mott - Lorraine.mott@essex.gov.uk or Mark Neville - mark.neville@alzheimers.org.uk

Bi-monthly meetings - community venues throughout Essex - future meetings dates and times to be confirmed.
